The masterplan and the subsequent architectural design of the new residential development in the former “Skeet Shooting” area in the town of Cardini, in the municipality of Casarza Ligure (Genova), include the construction of a new residential complex, for a total of n. 36 lodgings.
The area, currently semi-abandoned, consists of a central plateau on the road to Cardini, largely made up of landfills, surrounded by steep slopes. At the center of the central plateau are a volume and some service facilities for the activity of shooting. The new residential core, whose overall structure was studied in reference to the more general character of the landscape context, consists of two parts separated by a central square: the first (lot “A”) is configured as a court house, with buildings aggregated around a common area accessible from the square through archway; the second part (lot “B”) has a linear trend, with the buildings aggregated along the axis of the plant settlement.
In reference to the local historical context, the prevalent building type appears to be the “rural court” house, built on two floors with separate entrances, with the units on the central square specialized in three-storey houses.
All units will be equipped with outdoor appliances, courts and private gardens, covered and uncovered terraces, in accordance with the typological and formal context.
The new residential center insists on an underground garage composed of two distinct parts, each with its own ramp vehicular entrance and independent escape routes. The garage will be divided into a series of boxes.
A building for public interest activities will be located at the north-west of the residential center, easily accessible from the main road, developed on two levels for a total area of about 200 square meters.
Public pedestrian spaces are concentrated in the central part of the settlement, in direct connection with the residential core. They consist of a central square and a series of paths which connect it to the car park, to the areas overlooking the public building and to the green equipped areas, in addition to constituting the system of accessibility to the various units.
