Gallarati Architetti is an Italian firm of Architecture and Urban Design with seat in Genoa, founded in 2009 by architects Mario Gallarati, active as professional since 1978, and Giacomo Gallarati. Its work ranges from public buildings to residential and commercial, from restoration to new construction, from urban plans to interiors.

Main committment of the firm is to face the themes of architecture at the various scales in which it is found (architectural, building, urban and territorial) establishing an adequate relation between the new intervention and pre-existent structures: we believe that only a clear knowledge of the general structure of the pre-existent context permits architects to find the real meaning of their intervention. The pre-existent is assumed as starting point and rational source of inspiration.

This approach towards architecture collocates in the branch of the Italian School of Process Typology, started during the Fifties with Saverio Muratori and brought to maturity in the following years by his scholars. Today the school carries on its research inside the International Seminar on Urban Form (ISUF), of which Mario and Giacomo Gallarati are members.

With an experience of more than thirty years in projects focused on the recovery of the italian architecture characters, the practice has recently extended its interest to the British context, becoming a member of the Professional Network of the Prince´s Foundation for Building Community, a Charity founded and patroned by the Prince of Wales and based in London.
